The Themes
Weekly themes to guide and inform our practices, self-reflection, and group conversations.
Week 1: Self-Compassion
Start where you are with a sense of self-acceptance, nurturing, and care. We'll share why self-compassion practices lead to better health outcomes and more ease with those around you. You'll imprint the weekly theme in your asana practice and meditations.
Week 2: Self-Awareness
With deeper self-awareness, we move through the world making choices that better suit our needs. There is less confusion and struggle; more clarity and self-confidence. We rely less on the approval of others and make decisions from a place of authenticity.
Week 3: Self-Regulation
How emotionally flexible are you? Do you have practices to cope with stress? For most of us, emotional regulation requires training and processing that we've never formally learned. And yet, emotional regulation is vital -- it gives us agency in our work life, and helps us foster healthier relationships. In addition to meditation and asana, journaling and our group conversations will bolster our self-regulation.
Week 4: Self-Direction
Before you became a yoga teacher, you may not have envisioned how much self-direction and self-discipline it requires. This week will stoke your entrepreneurial spirit and help you kick imposter syndrome to the curb. If you've been feeling drained by the business side of things, this week will energize you and feed your creativity.
The Practices
Practices to draw you inward.
After all, that's where the answers lie.
Teaching yoga is the opposite of practicing yoga. Your energy is all outward-facing. This program will bring you out of planning and doing mode and back inward. You'll come back to your body with asana practices that feel good. You'll feel your inner refuge and nourish your nervous system.
Each week includes the following components:
Asana
Meditation and pranayama
Group Conversation
Worksheets and prompts
Hi, We're Jason and Andrea, a husband and wife team who have been in the yoga business for well over 20 years.
Jason has been teaching yoga for more than 25 years and has been training teachers around the world for more than a decade. Andrea is the former executive editor at Yoga Journal and is the host of Yogaland Podcast, which has garnered 6.5 million listens.
This program is borne out of years of our own personal practice, self-development, and running a business together.
It's in that spirit that we offer what has worked for us to show up and embrace both the challenges and joys of doing this work.
This course will help you:
Reconnect to your personal practice in a way that's meaningful and supportive
Feel more at ease with yourself and your teaching
Have a more self-aware and smoother relationship to your emotions
Approach the business side of teaching with a spirit of innovation and creativity
